Open season: irons

It’s all well & good hitting the green but, if you watched The Open, you’ll know that finding the right spot is important, both at Major Championships and in your Sunday fourball. But how do you do this through every club in your set?

That’s where progressive iron sets come in. If you’ve got a 5-iron from 160 yards, it’s pretty different to 9-iron from 120, right? You might find yourself chasing distance from 160, whereas you start thinking about being more precise from 120 yards & in.

A good fitting can make your misses that little bit more playable...

Looking at Callaway’s Big Bertha REVA ladies’ irons, you’ve got the Flash Face Cup for distance from further out and deep centre of gravity for precision as you get closer. The progressive designs also give you higher launch as you move through the set.
