Open season: irons

It’s all well & good hitting the green but, if you watched The Open, you’ll know that finding the right spot is important, both at Major Championships and in your Sunday fourball. But how do you do this through every club in your set?

That’s where progressive iron sets come in. If you’ve got a 5-iron from 160 yards, it’s pretty different to 9-iron from 120, right? You might find yourself chasing distance from 160, whereas you start thinking about being more precise from 120 yards & in.

If you're hitting it a little bit off-centre on the club face, you're not going to notice as much difference

Looking at PING’s G Le2 irons, you’ve got the CarTec Custom 455 face for distance from further out, along with low & deep centre of gravity for high launch. The co-moulded cavity badge also delivers fantastic feel, which is particularly noticeable from short range.
